I came in on aug 28, purchased cbd flower, a pipe, lighter and a preroll. guy checked my ID after letting the person in-front of me slide without an ID at all. Thats fine guy looked about 45 years old, I offered my ID and it was (at the time) fine. Today the 29th of august, I went in to make another purchase, offered the same state issued valid drivers license that he personally checked the day previous, he asked to scan it. I pulled it out and showed him, I have a black bar on the back so it does not scan. Scanning is a violation of privacy, it is not a requirement of the state or federal to be scanned only verified that it's valid. I had another ID underneath and my passport on me, rather than be professional, the man walks away from the counter while I'm pulling out my second state ID and declares he won't touch it from behind their prep wall. I have the receipt from the previous days purchase, I have 3 forms of valid ID and I have never had any issue anywhere (liquor stores and other hemp shops, Air-force base, police station, even the DMV accepts without the scan bar ) with me denying my information being sold through an marketed ID scan. (id scans are mostly 3rd party that sell that information) As such this behavior was flat rude and puzzling especially when the day previous he sold products without an ID present at all to the customer in front of me and knows my license is valid and sold me $57.90 worth of products the previous morning with the very ID that now was not valid? ( in date, non expired, picture accurate and accepted everywhere else) Needless to say this was a very negative experience as the store was recommended by others to me and I finally got the nerve to try it. Then find that they treat a brand new customer that clearly would be a regular with blatant disrespect the second time they come in (a day later no less). Picking and choosing when to act on an inappropriate and unexplained policy and not even look at the federally issued ID and passport when I am acting within the law and said policy by having them with me and attempting to present them. I will not be giving them anymore business nor will I ever recommend them to anyone else. Privacy is important, it's a right and should be encouraged. So when you have situations where scanning is not an option and is potentially violating the rights of the customer and that customer has alternative forms, they need to be considered or formally denied. A simple 'do you have alternate ID?' or just listening and not walking away would have been fine.... Not rudely walked away from declaring ' I wouldn't touch it' without even looking or bothering to hear that I have other forms of identification. Im all for the right to deny service as it is a free market and country but unprofessional rudeness, attitude and smug dismissal is unwarranted and downright sad from a customer service and retention standpoint, especially when the policy only applies when the employee feels like it and that customer witnessed this their first time in the business. As an educated, law abiding citizen, I shouldn't be treated or talked to like a criminal or like I'm less human.Treated like my money isn't valid because I retain my right to privacy and offered that explanation only to be cut off and not even have my other federally issued ID and passport looked at.response to owner: walked away from me at the counter When I had my state ID card behind my drivers license before I could even finish a sentence he walked off, had passport on me too. Staff failed to Inform why they scan and what they scan for and what the information is being used for and how if at all it is stored when I made a purchase the day previous and the man In front of me had NO ID also made a purchase and my ID that was presented both times was accepted and I made a $57.90 purchase. Rude is expecting anyone to understand when suddenly the next day They walk in and get treated like some criminal without explanation and left at the counter mid sentence. I stand by the review. Bad service.
